Life, it seems, is a grand series of decisions that must be made. They
range from the barely significant (What shall I wear today?) to the life
changing (Shall I ask her to marry me?). Have you considered the most
important decision that you will ever make? Unfortunately, many people
haven’t or the choice they made was based on faulty information. There
are two options to choose from in life that will determine your very
existence until the day you are buried and will ultimately decide your
final destination. Let’s look at the options.
Option 1 – Life
You may be thinking
to yourself “That’s silly! Of course I want to live”. But hold on. There
is a great difference between living and simply existing! God said
“Choose life!”
Deut 30:19-20
19 I call heaven and earth to record this
day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and
cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
20
That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey
his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and
the length of thy days
(KJV)
Life is a choice that we
have been given. A road to travel, so to speak, where every intersection
presents a choice for direction. The choices we make along the way
decide whether we live or simply exist until we die.
Matt 7:11-14
11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give
good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is
in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would
that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law
and the prophets.
13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide
is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many
there be which go in thereat:
14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow
is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
(KJV)
Option 2 – Destruction
Why do so many seem to miss the way of life? Is it because they are so
wrapped up in their own selfish desires that they simply miss the narrow
way? Or is it because they see “The Way” through clouded eyes and decide
to take the path of least resistance? I think it’s a little of both. As
we saw in the above scriptures, it is entirely up to us where our final
destination will be. We must make the choices.
Why must we choose? That is very good question with a very simple
answer. Through the fall of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, sin came
into the world.
Rom 5:12-14
12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered
into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for
that all have sinned:
13 (For until the law sin was in the world:
but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to
Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's
transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.
(KJV)
That is why we must choose
whom we shall serve. Sin entered the world and brought death and
destruction with it. But God in His infinite Mercy and Grace has
provided all that we need to make the choice.
John 14:6
6 Jesus
saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh
unto the Father, but by me.
(KJV)
Jesus is THE choice. The
salvation that God offers us through His Son will make us free from the
law of sin and death.
John 8:31-32
31 Then said
Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word,
then are ye my disciples indeed;
32 And ye shall know the truth,
and the truth shall make you free.
(KJV)
Jesus is the only choice
that can guarantee your future. Choose Life – Choose Jesus |
