Spectator or Sport

By: Rick Kerr

One of the reasons for this article is to hopefully cause some thought process in the area of self-inspection. Another reason is to plead change before it's too late. Too late for what? So much in life is missed because man stands around, sits in the lazy boy chair, or sleeps all day thinking someone else will get involved. Name the task, someone else will get involved! Do you care? Usually not, too consumed with doing nothing. Now that you're about ready to find out where I live and poison my teddy bear, please calm down, your reaction means this is all hitting a nerve. The truth nerve. So, How do you know you are Spectator? Is your Christianity (or whatever you profess) showing for church socials, holidays, weddings and funerals?

You could be a spectator.

While attending church do you ever take notes on the sermons either on paper or mentally?

You could be a spectator.

Note: The vast majority of spectators feel what they have to say is more important than what is being said to them. Just because you may have heard what was said, does not mean you applied the suggestions for change. When asked for volunteers, are you too busy? Something planned that's more important; the cat cried, the food fried, the fish fell into some water?

You could be a spectator.

Note: Most spectators think to themselves, "I'm sure there's enough people here for whatever has to be accomplished, I don't need to get involved. When someone on the street says to you "hey buddy or excuse me ma'am, can you spare some change", you look at them with a disgusted look and reply, "go get a job" or some other reaction to that effect?

You could be a spectator.

Anyone can change, yes even you!

How do you know you're a sport?

If your walk with Christ is active not passive. The bible says "walk in the spirit and you shall not fulfill the lusts of the flesh" (Galatians 5:16). To walk is understood as action.

You could be a sport.

If in attending any meeting where your thoughts are along the lines of obtaining information, it is always a positive practice to take notes, jot down thoughts or be ready and equipped to do so.

You could be a sport.

The power of association is real and it works. For instance: criminals and prisons, socialites and politicians, Adam, Eve and God, finally the apostles and Jesus. If being around others of like beliefs is essential to your personal and spiritual development. Ever heard the term, you are who you hang out with or you are what you read?

You could be a sport.

Life is all about living (an active phrase)!
