Deut 28:15
15 "But it shall come to
pass, if you do not obey the voice of the LORD your God, to observe
carefully all His commandments and His statutes which I command you
today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you:
(NKJ)
We find that poverty is a
curse.
Deut 28:20
20 "The LORD will send on you
cursing, confusion, and rebuke in all that you set your hand to do,
until you are destroyed and until you perish quickly, because of the
wickedness of your doings in which you have forsaken Me.
(NKJ)
A curse is meant to destroy a
person.
Prov 10:15
15 The rich man's wealth is
his strong city: the destruction of the poor is their poverty.
(KJV)
We find that the destruction
of the poor is their poverty.
Prov 6:9-11
9 How long wilt thou sleep, O
sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
10 Yet a little sleep, a
little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
11 So shall thy poverty come
as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.
(KJV)
Those who are lazy and not
willing to work, poverty will come upon them.
1 Pet 5:8
8 Be sober, be vigilant;
because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about,
seeking whom he may devour:
(KJV)
Since poverty is a curse and
meant to destroy, it is one of the attributes of the devil (to destroy)
Gal 3:13-14
13 Christ hath redeemed us
from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written,
Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
14 That the blessing of
Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might
receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
(KJV)
Gal 3:16
16 Now to Abraham and his
seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but
as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.
(KJV)
Gal 3:29
29 And if ye be Christ's,
then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
(KJV)
Deut 28:1-14
1 And it shall come to pass,
if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to
observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day,
that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the
earth:
2 And all these blessings
shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the
voice of the LORD thy God.
3 Blessed shalt thou be in
the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field.
4 Blessed shall be the fruit
of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle,
the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.
5 Blessed shall be thy basket
and thy store.
6 Blessed shalt thou be when
thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out.
7 The LORD shall cause thine
enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they
shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways.
8 The LORD shall command the
blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest
thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the LORD thy
God giveth thee.
9 The LORD shall establish
thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou
shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, and walk in his ways.
10 And all people of the
earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the LORD; and they
shall be afraid of thee.
11 And the LORD shall make
thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of
thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the LORD
sware unto thy fathers to give thee.
12 The LORD shall open unto
thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his
season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend
unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.
13 And the LORD shall make
thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou
shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the
LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them:
14 And thou shalt not go
aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right
hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.
(KJV)
We learn here that Christ
Jesus redeemed us (Gentiles) from the curse of the law, and through Him
we became the adopted seed of Abraham. Well, if we are of Abraham’s
seed, then we inherit the blessings of Abraham. We learn from Deut.
28:1-14, if we hearken and obey the Lord and His commandments, we shall
receive the blessings listed. When we live by God’s Word and serve Him,
there’s no doubt that we will be blessed tremendously. So, it is
appropriate to say that when God blesses us with prosperity and success
we are managing His & Our Mutual Funds.
God wants His servants to
prosper!
The Fools Dozen
Ps 73:1-28
1 Truly God is good to
Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart.
2 But as for me, my feet were
almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped.
3 For I was envious at the
foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
4 For there are no bands in
their death: but their strength is firm.
5 They are not in trouble as
other men; neither are they plagued like other men.
6 Therefore pride compasseth
them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment.
7 Their eyes stand out with
fatness: they have more than heart could wish.
8 They are corrupt, and speak
wickedly concerning oppression: they speak loftily.
9 They set their mouth
against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth.
10 Therefore his people
return hither: and waters of a full cup are wrung out to them.
11 And they say, How doth God
know? and is there knowledge in the most High?
12 Behold, these are the
ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches.
13 Verily I have cleansed my
heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency.
14 For all the day long have
I been plagued, and chastened every morning.
15 If I say, I will speak
thus; behold, I should offend against the generation of thy children.
16 When I thought to know
this, it was too painful for me;
17 Until I went into the
sanctuary of God; then understood I their end.
18 Surely thou didst set them
in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction.
19 How are they brought into
desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors.
20 As a dream when one
awaketh; so, O Lord, when thou awakest, thou shalt despise their image.
21 Thus my heart was grieved,
and I was pricked in my reins.
22 So foolish was I, and
ignorant: I was as a beast before thee.
23 Nevertheless I am
continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand.
24 Thou shalt guide me with
thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.
25 Whom have I in heaven but
thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.
26 My flesh and my heart
faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.
27 For, lo, they that are far
from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring
from thee.
28 But it is good for me to
draw near to God: I have put my trust in the
(KJV)
Prov 1:28-33
28 Then shall they call upon
me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not
find me:
29 For that they hated
knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:
30 They would none of my
counsel: they despised all my reproof.
31 Therefore shall they eat
of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.
32 For the turning away of
the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy
them.
33 But whoso hearkeneth unto
me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.
(KJV)

he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.
(KJV)

laid up for the just.
