God is in Control

By: Kendal Coleman

Philippians 2.13--For it is God who works IN you both to WILL and to DO for his good pleasure.

Proverbs 18.10--The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe.

Isaiah 46.9--Remember the former things of old, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me.

Colossians 2.10--You are complete in Him, who is the head of ALL principalities and Power.

The bible tells us that the Lord is a strong tower, and the righteous run to  it and are safe. One thing we need to get into our spirits is that God is above all things. The scripture says that he is the head of all principalities and power. With the recent tragedies happening all around the world, we need to remember that God is omnipresent, which means he is everywhere. In Colorado they have wild fires, and on 911 there was the terrorist attacks. Today they are laying off people here at WorldCom, and people are dying on the highways in car wrecks. We have bridges collapsing, children being taken from their homes and homes being destroyed by Tornadoes. However in the mist of all this mess, God is still in control.

See the bible tells us to not look at the things which we see because they are temporary, and the things which we can not see are eternal. In the book of Colossians chapter 3 Paul said that if we were raised with Christ, that we should seek things which are above, where Christ is, sitting on the right hand of GOD. In other words we should set our minds on things above, not on things on this earth. Because if you watch the news, read the newspapers and talk to different people all day long about what is going on around you, then eventually it will take a toll on your faith. But we have to act on the word that we get. Instead of seeking advice from everybody, we need to learn how to stir up the word of God that is in us. We have to be able to look beyond all the mess and believe in our hearts that God is in control.

The bible says to remember the former things of old, for he is God and there is no other. Look back over your life and see where God has brought you from. If you pay attention to how he made sure you had food to eat when you didn’t have a dime. How he made sure the utilities didn’t get cut off because all you had to fall back on was favor. If he did it for you then, he will do it for you now. There are so many people in this world who do not believe that God is God. They do not believe that Jesus is Lord. But my bible tells me that every knee shall bow, and every tongue shall confess that he is the Lord Jesus Christ. God is the same yesterday, today and forever. He never changes. He is the same God who kept you when you couldn’t find yourself. He is the same God who gave you peace that surpasses all understanding. He is the God who gave you the job in the first place. We have to be able to trust him when we can’t trace him. When it looks like God is not doing anything, that's when he is up to something. When it seems like he is not paying you any attention that's when he is working something out for you. The bible says that ALL things work together for the good, for those who are called according to his purpose. Whatever we are going through is working FOR us and not against us. It all boils down to our faith and how much we believe that God will do what he says. He said that his word will not return unto him void, and that it will accomplish what it was set out to do. We need to understand that God is the source and everything on this earth is a resource. Our Job is a resource. Not our source. If you make WorldCom your source then you have made it an idol, which means you put your job before God. If it takes lay offs, bombs, war,  and homes to be burnt down for God to get a person to humble themselves and pray, then it will happen. Nothing can stop it. Man aint running nothing on this earth and that is where we mess up. Putting our trust in man.  Man will betray you quicker then you can say Amen. This job can not be your source of happiness, source of comfort, source of protection nor your source of  prosperity. He is the author and the finisher of my faith. We get all stressed out because all we can see is to the corner but God sees around the corner. What we think is a period he turns it into a comma and adds another chapter to our lives.

Have you ever noticed from a high rise building, if you look down how everything looks so little? But if you are walking on the street below, everything seems big. That is because when you are in the situation or going through the trial everything looks big while you are in it. But see God sits high and looks low. What seems huge to us is tiny to him. He say, “aw that aint nothin” While we pull our hairs out, lose sleep, don’t eat, stay up all night worrying about our future, God sits high and says, “that aint nothing”. What is huge to us is small to him. Because if you are standing on the 60th floor of a high rise building, not only can you see the street, but you can see the whole city! God can see everything! He knew the layoffs were coming before they came. He knew the floods would come before it rained. He knew the forest would burn up before the fire hit the ground! We can not blame God for what happens on this earth. We need to trust him in these tough times and know that he is in control. The devil aint running nothing. The bigger you make your God the smaller your problem, and the bigger you make your problem the small your God will be. Cast all your cares on him for he cares for you. God loves you more then you can ever imagine. If he gave his only begotten son, so that we would live and have ever lasting life! Its all about love. We need to be like Jesus and be faithful and obedient to God unto our death. Don’t wait until the battle is over, because we can shout right now! Thank You Jesus! I am so happy that I have God in my life today! I thank him for his grace and mercy that he has placed over my life! His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

Remember, no mater what the circumstances look like, God is in control. We walk by faith and not by site.  Look back over your life and see how he brought you up and out of a horrible pit. See some people are up but they are not out! If he brought you up and out then you have something to shout about! Don’t worry about your money or what you will do next week! Don’t worry about how the bills will get paid! Don’t worry about how the mortgage will get paid! Is God God or what? He is the almighty God and there is no other like him. The name of Jesus is the name above all names. Quit trying to fix everything yourself, because the battle is not yours but it belongs to the Lord. Let God do what only he can do in  your life. It doesn’t matter what the rent lady says because God is in control. It doesn’t matter what the president say, because God is in control. It doesn’t matter what the supervisor or the managers say because God is in control. He declares my ending from the beginning. God is in control. If you keep your mind stayed on Jesus then he will keep you in perfect peace. Let patience have its perfect work in you, that you will be perfect and complete lacking nothing. It’s not in what we say, but in how we live our lives. We can talk a good talk but can we walk the walk? We can say that we trust him but do we really trust him with all our hearts? Pray for the economy, pray for the leaders, pray for the people who have authority over you. Pray for those who get laid off, and for those who don’t. Pray for the lost that they may be saved. Pray for the world because only what you do for Christ will last. May God add a blessing to the reading of this word.
