God – Are You There?

By: William W. Hull

How often do we feel alone in our daily routine? From my perspective, it seems all too often. Why is that? Is it because God’s attention is elsewhere? Or is it because we have let our busy schedules prevent us from noticing that God is there? Let’s take a moment or two and remember a few of the attributes of God.

God is Omnipotent meaning that God is all powerful. There is no power above God

Jer 32:17

17        Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee: (KJV)

God is Omnipresent meaning that God is everywhere at once. He is spirit and not confined to the limitations of space as we are.

Ps 139:7-10

7          Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?

8          If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.

9          If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;

10        Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. (KJV)

God is Love. The perfect representation of love cannot be expressed outside the knowledge of God because He is the perfect representation of love.

I Jn 4:8-9

8          He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

9          In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. (KJV)

1 Cor 13:4-8

4          Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;

5          does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil;

6          does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;

7          bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

8                    Love never fails… (NKJ)

Knowing these things about God makes it kind of hard to understand how we can feel that God isn’t there. All we need to do is to slow down long enough to listen for His voice. He cares for us, without a doubt. After all, God sent His Son to die on a cross for us. If that isn’t love, I don’t know what is. We also need to get into God’s Word to see what He says about us and to us. He has promised that He will always be with us.

Matt 28:18-20

18        And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

19        Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20        Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. (KJV)

Heb 13:5-6

5          Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

6          So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. (KJV)

The next time you start to feel that God isn’t around, get off to yourself in a quiet place and listen. You’ll find that He is not only there, but that He also cares for you and will guide you through life. Praise God for His faithfulness to us when we honor Him as we should.
